All the Small Things

For the past 11 days (and counting) the temperature has been over 100 degrees and it hasn't rained in weeks.  Needless to say, we replaced projects with pool time. 

I did squeeze in a super tiny project yesterday.  I bought these ...

They're Moen double shower curtain rings and I love them!  

We had horrible plastic rings before and they were a pain to undo whenever I needed to wash the liner.  Plus, they look so much prettier.

Isn't it funny how the smallest things make you happy?

Kitchen Tools

After the gym, I wandered around Target last night to give J some time to study ... Who am I kidding, I don't need a reason to shop.  (Our gym is dangerous ... its next to a Trader Joes, Target, TJ Maxx and, coming soon, a Home Goods).

I've always loved Fred & Friends - they make the perfect whimsical little gifts - so imagine how excited I was to see end caps at Target filled with Fredtastic items.

Last Christmas, J got this circular saw pizza wheel in his stocking.

I also have these "Pick Your Nose" cups tucked away.  

 They're a perfect cover up for the family "roman nose" I inherited.  

Maybe I'll save them for a nose job party ...

Now, I think we need these to complete our tool collection:

A saw that doubles as a fruit slicer and bottle opener for J and a cake saw for me.

And my new favorites: the Batterfinger and Dish Wish!

Does your credit card cry every time you walk into Target?

Shhhh!

It's been quiet around our house ... no power tool noise, no shuffling around furniture, no rearranging shelves ... I've even resorted to using a broom as much as possible in place of a vacuum! But it's all for a good reason.

Last month J got a new job (same company, new position) that required him to take a few Securities exams (smarty pants works in finance).  He passed his first one last week and is taking another one next Monday.  Meanwhile, he's been in training for the past few weeks for the new job and today he got a promotion!  

Yes, while training for a new job, he was promoted to a new new job.  

How does that happen?!  Needless to say, I'm more than happy for him and in the meantime I'll continue to tip toe around the house, collect lots of project ideas, and catch up on new tv shows!

Have you see Bunheads?  The name cracks me up.  And the show is good in that "guilty pleasure, watch by yourself out on the deck while your husband is studying" kind of way.

Its from the creator of Gilmore Girls and includes Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore).  Now I just need to watch Parenthood, Mad Men and Bunheads back-to-back and maybe I'll get a little fix of the old school Gilmore Girls!
